In BT today : Small investors got 10.8 per cent of Mentor Media's 18 million public tranche shares in the company's initial public offer. The IPO, which closed at noon on Wednesday, was 116.9 times subscribed. Sesdaq-bound Mentor Media offered a total of 40 million shares at 25 cents each. The company's placement tranche of 22 million shares, including 5 million reserved shares for its employees and business associates, was fully taken up. Of the IPO's net proceeds of $8.1 million, $1.5 million will be used for capital expansion in Singapore. A further $4.5 million will be used to buy a new building to replace two leased factories. Mentor owns a third building here. The remaining $2.1 million will be used to finance future business expansion. Established in 1993, Mentor Media helps electronics and software companies manage their "supply chain" and production process. Its major customers include Hewlett Packard, Epson and Lotus. For the year ended March this year, Mentor Media reported net profit of $3.2 million on turnover of $45.6 million. |

Why the director is dumping his shares? is he using his shares to rally ? I don't feel good abt this company? |
(Post 3 of 2381) 09/15/1999.23:21:00 |
| Author : |
Jacquell, I don't think one should be concern as this director only owns 342,000 shares or 0.17% of the company and he just sold 242,000. He probably feels that this is a good price to sell and I won't be surprised if he buys them back again when the price falls. I will be more concern if the major shareholder starts selling. In a new issue, there is usually a clause that prevents any of the major shareholder to trade any of his / her shares for 1 year from the listing. It is because of this regulation that a lot of shares get locked up and institutions are able to move prices. That is why new issues get played and then a year later, the prices fall back to ground zero. |

Dear Jacquell If the director sells. means the share price will drop. else why else he sells. Logic.. Think abt it |

Intra_d, There is an code we all abide by at this site: do not pose empty messages like "Start collecting it now. " It does no one any good, for there is no explantation or reasoning why one should act? So, please, more details why? |

Warren, I just feel you are overeact to the comment by intra_d by using this 'code'. I recall Upjones made a similar call just 'close all positions'. Noone took offence I am very sure. So can we just either ignore such comments or if not, we just ask the question 'why?' will suffice. Make the atmosphere stifling wun it if there is a feeling someone going to hang this 'code' round my neck. |

I am with Warren. He did not hurled any abuses. All he did was to give a gentle reminder and to request for further details. This is very reasonable. Dreamer888 made the same call on Kian Ann earlier on and was crucified but he redeemed himself nicely later on. Those who chided him apologised. If I recalled some forumers did react to Upjohn calls but they did it because Upjohn has credibility. I am not sure about Intra_d. I don't get to read his contributions regularly. Had he made good contributions in the past , we might give more weight to his calls. Otherwise , like everyone else here , he has to toe the line or in your words " Make the atmosphere stifling ......a feeling someone going to hang this 'code' round my neck. " Now Intra_d , please provide us with the details. I will be the first to give you credit if credit is due. We are all reasonable punters. |

Very familiar experience. I don't look back these days to stocks that I've sold. Even if they continue to rise. The other thing is that whenever I enter a stock, the price could fall further and get even cheaper. Nobody can time their entries and exits that perfectly. Don't look back after selling, and stay with your stock picks (which you have carefully selected and believe to be undervalued) unless you have reasons to change your assessment. |

Pertama, May i know how u come to the conclusion that Mentor will hit $0.52 - $0.54 in the two days other than force-selling? From your gut feelings? Foresight? Negative news which i am not aware of? Would appreciate if u could enlighten me... Barring a US stock market crash, I'll be very surprise if it does hit that range in the next two days, even if there is force-selling. Have vested interest. Anyway, whether it will goes up or down from the current level i'll be ready with my strategy. No worries.:) |

MENTOR MEDIA LTD The Board of Directors of Mentor Media Ltd ("the Company") wishes to announce that the Company had on 15th April 2000 signed a three-year Sub-Tenancy Agreement with GRP Ltd ("GRP") to lease a gross area of 5,481 sq. m. starting from 1 May 2000 and ending on 30 April 2003. The new address is situated at 1 Bukit Batok Street 22, Singapore 659592. The Company has also obtained an option to renew the lease for a further period of three (3) years after the expiration of the lease on 30 April 2003. During the initial public offering by the Company last year, the Company had stated in its prospectus dated 30 August 1999 that it planned to use the net proceeds of S$ 4.5 million to defray the costs of purchasing or constructing an additional factory building for its manufacturing operations. The Board of Directors now feels that it is prudent to delay the purchase of a larger building or to purchase or build an additional building to house all of its business units due to the following reasons : 1. The additional and larger leased space provides the Company the flexibility to expand its production capacity rapidly to meet its expansion plan and the rapidly changing business environment and requirement; 2. The funds may be directed by the Company to focus its internal resources to push forward its regionalisation programme. Besides the above mentioned leased space, the Company still retains its existing building at 20 Joo Koon Crescent, Singapore 629020 to house one of its business units. The additional rental amount to be paid by the Company is not expected to have any material effect on the earnings per share of the Company for the financial year ending 31 March 2001. No director or substantial shareholder of the Company has an interest, direct or indirect, in the Agreement. By order of the Board. Submitted by Lo Swee Wen, Director on 03/05/2000 to the SES |

Recap of Commentary on the last P & L statements end of Nov 1999, will await eagerly on the results tomorrow evening. 5. Review of the performance of the company and its principal subsidiaries Group turnover increased by 59.5% to S$ 31.8 Million. The increase in sales was due to continued strong demand from existing and new customers. The increased turnover and prudent cost management enabled the Group to achieve 54.7% and 49.8% growth in net profit before and after tax to S$ 3.26 million and S$ 2.38 million respectively. The Group's subsidiaries remained inactive for the six months ended 30 September 1999. In the opinion of the Directors, no item, transaction or event of a material and unusual nature has arisen between the end of the period and the date of this announcement which would materially affect the Group's operations and results. 6. Commentary on current year prospects The Group intends to continue to focus on the continued outsourcing trend of the technology related industries and emphasise on its supply chain management and software contract manufacturing services. Barring unforeseen circumstances, the Directors expect the Group performance to remain satisfactory for the remaining 6 months. with vested interest |

My broker told me that buying momentum picked up since yesterday in anticipation of a better-than-expected results to be released this evening. And the chart showed that since June 2 the share is on a upward trend, though resistance is at 42 cents; if this is broken with strong volume, then it is confirmed up, up, and away; at least for today. Any other alternative views? |
