Be careful of "losing" more money preparing for corrections, or anticipating for corrections, than losing money in the corrections themselves.

Refer to what Peter Lynch has to say.

Smith Barney hosting a MID CAP TECH CORPORATE DAY on Friday (10 October)...an impressive lineup of companies across a range of subsectors, with market caps ranging from US$67-291m....the companies are interesting both for their own businesses as well as their inputs regarding other (mega cap) players...GES (contract design and manufacturing of POS terminals; IBM and NCR are key customers)...Jurong Tech (PCBA work for hard disk drive industry; key customers include Maxtor and Western Digital)...Fu Yu (makes plastic injection moulded parts as well as precision moulds for mobile phones, printers, home appliances)....Norelco (provides equipment to semicon and hard disk drive industries; customers include Applied Materials and Electrogas)...Unisteel (makes miniature fasteners for hard disk drive industry)...ECS Holdings (distributor of IT services and products in Asia; principals include IBM, Sun, and HPQ; should be interesting vis-a-vis Datacraft)...Innovalues (supplier of high precision parts and components used in office automation, hard disk drives, and automotive industries)...Sunningdale Precision (precision plastic maker focused on auto and telecom sectors; Motorola accounts for 30% of business)...judging by investor reaction, it should be an interesting day....

07 Oct 4:26PM : Giant Wireless ($0.47) - Analyst briefing update

· Giant Wireless has concluded the licensing agreement to take over the global sales and distribution of Motorola's Family Radio Services (FRS) wireless electronic products for a 5% royalty with effect from Oct 2003. Management estimated that the new distribution business to yield PBT of ~US$10m from Oct 2003 to Sep 2004. This works out to a PBT contribution of US$5m (HK$38.6m) for FY04 (YE Mar).

· Separately, it has also signed contracts with US retail chain RadioShack to 1) transfer Radioshack's manufacturing requirement of certain 900MHz headphones and other wireless electronics products to Giant; 2) manufacture products for RadioShack using the latter's FRS ASIC; and 3) share RadioShack's 900 MHz wireless technology to manufacture various wireless products. Giant expects the first business transfer alone to add US$975K to PBT for the period Jan-Dec 04. This implies additional US$244K (HK$1.9m) in PBT for FY04.

· Meanwhile, management expects the manufacturing of TempAlert products to contribute some US$390K (HK$3m) to FY04 PBT.

· We have no official coverage on Giant Wireless. However, combining the potential contributions outlined, a 10% yoy organic PBT growth and a 10% effective tax rate, our back-of-the-envelope calculation resulted in FY04 net earnings of HK$101.8m (+83% yoy). This translates to attractive PER of 8x FY04 earnings.

· We understand that there is a share placement exercise of 30.3m vendor shares at $0.46 apiece this afternoon

So far it look like it will out perform the small cap nd house traders look like churning but no intrests from small player who have lost money recently. Just my 2 cts worth

[Dow Jones] STOCK CALL: ING cut City Developments (C09) to Hold from Buy as stock already +39% on-year and outperformed STI by 9%. Still, company well positioned for recovery in hotel and residential sectors given its low-cost residential landbank and M&C hotel unit's likely recovery in 2004. But 7% upside to revised price target of $6.20 not attractive and "patient investors should look to buy on weakness." Stock down 1.7% at $5.80. (GEN)

I think corrections are individual and rotational. e.g.,ASTI is in correcion mode today, so are brilliant, unifiber, etc.; some have corrected and are waiting to move up e.g. Sinomen or have started to move again such as TPV, in the past day or so some blue chips have also corrected, but so far all corrections are shallow corrections. Market participants are like changing seats in the musical chair game ?
